Belly Dance classes information

Classes start with a warm up session followed by learning technique and various routines to practice the technique learnt, not forgetting having fun in the process training the body to respond to the rhythms and learning about the the different aspects of Belly Dance such as music, styles, culture.... and even language (when applicable)

All level classes will learn routines to perform at the 'Belly Dance Extravaganza' which is our end of year show at the end of July or beginning of August. Performing in the show is optional.

Classes run from September through to the end July with breaks at national holidays and a summer break in August.

Beginners - This class is suitable for the absolute beginner or those with little previous experience. The 7 week courses DO NOT repeat through out the year. There are 6 courses in the year which equip the student with the level of technique required to move up to improver level.
Courses dates for 2008/2009:
10/9 -22/10 | 29/10 - 17/12
(no class on 12/11) | 7/1 - 18/2 | 25/2 - 8/4 | 22/4 - 3/5 | 10/5 - 22/ 7 |

Improvers - A minimum of one year experience is required for this class. This class builds up on the basic technique learnt in Beginners’ level courses, combining moves and learning more complex steps and routines. You will also be introduced to dancing with props like a veil and a stick.

Intermdiate - A minimum of 2 years experience is required for this class. This class concentrates on learning more complex choregraphies, improvisation and deeper understanding of music interpretation.

Belly Dance Workout -No experience is required for this class, it is open for all levels. This is an exellent exercise class for all, originally created for belly dancers to help perfect their dance skills thourgh carefully thought out drills. This class is specifically designed to correct posture, stengthen core muscles, develop flexibilty, muscle strength and control needed for Belly Dancing.


What to wear
For all dance classes wear comfortable clothing, you can wear a wide flowy skirt and a hip scarf if you like. We dance in bare feet (if you prefer to dance in shoes please wear ballet shoes).

For Belly dance workout please wear exercise clothes. NO SKIRTS and no shoes.
